I went live on Facebook with a gimbal and hoped the phone would stay on. I wanted to share what I had learned that day, and I wanted to tell my people the next workshop was Dollar a Day in the room, not in a slide deck. I had already booked a live Q&A with Dennis Yu for everyone who joined.
Takeaway: keep it simple, test a dollar per video per day, and bring short video or you have nothing to test. I secured Dennis before I hit live, not after.

I went live with a gimbal on purpose
I said it on the tape: I was trying out the gimbal and hoping the phone would not fall off. That is the standard I teach. You do not wait for a studio to tell your people what is next.
The week was e-commerce. I am not an e-commerce person. I cut my teeth on services and B2B. My daughter and I were going through Trey Luellen’s five-day e-commerce challenge because I wanted to understand that world instead of guessing.
The live was the handoff from that homework to a workshop my services clients could actually run.
Keep it simple is the whole point
Verbatim: Whenever I hear Dennis speak because he makes it sound so simple because it is. We overcomplicate things so much. So stay focused on your outcome and keep it simple.
I had just been on a call with him. That sentence is what I carried onto Facebook. Market before product. One SKU. One funnel. Then the ads test. Not a 40-step stack.
E-commerce week made the same point from the other side. Trey’s challenge forced one product and one path. I wanted my services clients to feel that same constraint when we launched Dollar a Day in the room. Simplicity is the filter, not a slogan.
Dollar a Day is a testing technique
The main workshop is implementation. We launch our own Dollar a Day campaigns in the room. It does not cost just a dollar. It is a dollar per video per day. That is why it works. It is a testing technique.
We launch on Twitter first, then Facebook and Google. LinkedIn and Pinterest if you want them. The main three are Twitter, Facebook, and Google. You can tell a client you are running awareness tests with the approach I learned from Dennis.
Steven Gent inside AdSkills already started. He was killing it on Twitter. I named him on the live so the room had a person, not a theory. Read the method on the power of Dollar a Day if you need the longer write-up. This page is the invite.
You need short video or the test has no fuel
You need videos to run this approach. I told the room I would share my short-video formula so they could make them easily. All less than a minute. Aimed at sales and leads. Cut from longer recordings so the Dollar a Day campaigns have something to spend.
Cat videos are not the fuel. A one-minute clip of the work you actually do is the fuel. That matches the webinar I later hosted: ingredients first, then amplification.
If you already have a long training or a job-site walkthrough, cut it. Do not wait to become a filmmaker. The gimbal live was the example: ship the invite with the tool in your hand, then teach the formula in the workshop so the tests have clips ready.
I already booked Dennis for the Q&A
I secured a live Q&A with Dennis Yu himself before I went live. A totally separate session just with him for everybody in the workshop. If you have seen the interview on my profile, you know he answers the questions.
That is the relationship. I do not clone his articles onto this site. I put him in the room. His first-person cut of this live is his workshop announcement article. The honor page is the Liana Ling honor hub. Photos we already published sit on my camera-roll photo page.
Next step: watch the Facebook live at the top, then use the short-video formula on one real clip before you spend the dollar.
